Short answer... organization & security.

Quick Definitions

ISRC, the International Standard Recording Code, is the internationally recognized identification tool for sound and music video recordings. These codes are used for individual tracks.

UPC Codes are standardized global identifiers, which enable products to be sold, reordered and tracked through supply chains. These codes are used for albums.

In order to upload music to Single Music (or any other DSP like iTunes, Amazon, Spotify) you need to first obtain a UPC code for your album and an ISRC for each track.

So how do I get these codes?

Single Music does not currently offer UPC & ISRC registration for Albums or Tracks.

Digital aggregators like Ditto Music, Tunecore, and DistroKid will supply UPCs and ISRCs as part of their service.
